The "Grafted In" symbol is very old and interesting. First to Second century artifacts discovered in a cave near King David's tomb on Mount Zion in the 1960s bear this symbol. Some experts believe that it was an identifying mark of the early Jewish believers in Yeshua (Jesus) as a symbol that tied together their faith traditions and their faith in the Messianic community of that time. The Menorah at the top represents the Torah, the fulfillment of the promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and to the calling of the people of Israel. According to the New Testament, Yeshua came to fulfill the law. He said he was the Light of the World. The Star of David represents the promise that a future King from the House of David would sit on David's throne.
