Schooners are beautiful mulit-mast sailing vessels that are always a delight to see gliding across the water with their sails filled with sea breezes. This work is a sketch created digitally from one of my photographs of a beautiful wooden schooner in Admiralty Inlet near Port Townsend, Washington. A schooner is a type of sailing vessel with fore-and-aft sails on two or more masts, the foremast being shorter than the main and no taller than the mizzen if there is one. Originally gaff-rigged, modern schooners typically carry a Bermuda rig. "Schooner Sailing" coordiates with several boating sketches in my gallery for wall groupings.
